When Not to Reveal The Lord gives us information, leadings, directions even though we aren’t fully mature to always properly handle them without damaging or hurting someone. Otherwise, He would get very little accomplished and use only a handful of His servants. The following is a personal experience. It is an experience wherein I failed, but have learned a valuable lesson. There was a young lady in the church I was attending many years ago that I sensed held a particular sin in her heart. After a service, I asked to speak with her and with a know-it-all attitude I said, “I sense there is something in your heart that the Lord wants you to give up for Him.” With a very puzzled look, she said, “Oh.” and then walked away. Proverbs 15:23 says, “…a word spoken in due season, how good is it!” Even though what I sensed and what I said was true, I did not give the word in due season (nor with “due attitude”!). A word spoken out of season, how bad is it! About five years later, the young lady married. But she kept that sin in her hearta flirtatious, lustful spirit. Three years later, she got herself into a very bad situation and was raped. Any word that you receive from Father regarding another person’s sin must be handled in His timing, with wisdom, tactfulness, grace, love, gentleness, and only with the attitude of restoring that person’s fellowship with God. We must seek not only to hear Father’s voice, but also the wisdom and patience to know when (and if!) to share any insight with the person that you have been given some supernatural knowledge about. There are many times that He will give us insight into another person’s heart for only one reason: to pray for that person. But, there are times that He wants us to share the insight. And if we do that properly, those words can change the course of a person’s life. It is my prayer for you that Father will continue to help you to hear His voice, and more and more frequently.
