The Pure in Heart Shall See God One night, a father heard his four year old son talking in his room. After several minutes, the father got out of bed and checked on his son. “I heard you talking. Who are you talking to?” the father asked. “An angel.” the son replied. “Oh, okay”, the father wondered and went back to bed. The following night, the same thing happened. And again, the father wondered what was going on. After that second night, the father called their pastor and asked if he knew what was happening. The pastor suggested a particular question to ask his son the next time this happens. Sure enough, the third night and for the third time, he heard his son talking in the middle of the night. He got out of bed, went to his son’s room and asked, “Who are you talking with?”. “An angel of the Lord” his son replied. “I don’t see him. Where is he?”, the father said. Pointing to the floor near the foot of the bed, the son said, “He’s right there”. Remembering what his pastor suggested, he asked, “Why can’t I see him? Ask him why I can’t see him.” After a brief conversation between the son and the angel, the son looked sad. “Well, did he tell you why I can’t see him?” “Yes, Daddy. He said that your heart is calloused from the lusts of this world. He said only the pure in heart shall see God.” It is my prayer for you that Father will continue to help you to hear His voice, and more and more frequently.
