Hearing, Eating, and Revelations for You Take a moment to consider your answer to the following question: How much of all that you know about the Lord did you learn from other people? For too many Christians, the answer is, “All”. Analogous to how we learn about our God is how we all learn to eat food. We go through progressive stages:
Never before in the history of man’s existence have there been more sources and opportunities for learning about God and His Word. Through the internet, radio, and television, we can access teachings and resources from ministries on the other side of the world. And while I believe that God orchestrated this to help His body become one in the faith, we should remember that He wants to speak directly to us. He wants to reveal His Word and His will to us from His Spirit to our spirit. Jesus said that the Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth (John). He will guide “you”. He will tell “you” what He hears from the Father. And He will tell “you” what is coming in the future. Peter received the most wonderful and important revelation directly from the Fatherthat Jesus is the Christ (Matthew 16:15 17). Jesus told Peter that he was blessed to have been given a revelation directly from the Father. Very few people in history have learned exclusively from the Lord. For example: Paul told the Galatians (1:1112) that what knew, he learned directly from Jesus. Wow, can you imagine if Paul was of our generationhe would have more revelation of God than all of us and not from sitting under anyone’s teaching or ministry, not from television, conferences, radio, etc! Moses and God spoke face to face and intimately as friends (Exodus 33:11). It is Father’s desire that each of us learn directly from Him. But, unless we are called to a high position of responsibility like Paul or Moses, we need to learn from others. We need to hear God’s voice through others. Each member of the body has value. For each of us, God wants to reveal Himself in a way that is unique to us. In the body, the hand reveals a design that is different than the knee, and the ear reveals a design that is different that the eye. God not only has a specific purpose for you, but specific revelations of Him and His Word for you. When we receive revelation knowledge about God and when we share that with others, we help build and edify the Body of Christ. When more and more parts of the Body function in their revelations and role, more parts of the Body learn to receive their revelations and function in their calling. It is my prayer for you that Father will continue to help you to hear His voice, and more and more frequently.
