God's Voice and Your Realm of Authority I have often heard that most people who regularly hear God’s voice will most often hear Him speak to them about things pertaining only to them. I find that also true in my own life, and I believe He does this because His priority is to mature us and make us vessels of honor for His use. But, next to speaking to us about ourselves, He will speak most frequently about the people and situations that are under our care and authority. God will speak frequently to us regarding the realm of authority and responsibility wherein He has currently placed us. This truth holds true whether we are the head of a nation or if we are not overseeing even one other persononly ourselves. So, be it millions of people or just ourselves, God will speak to us about His will and plan for those people. Two examples: Moses. God gave Moses charge over the large multitude of Hebrews and He spoke to Moses daily to reveal His will for them. But, God did not speak to Moses about the Hebrews for all the 40 years that he was tending his father-in-law’s flock. Joseph. When Joseph was in prison, God did not speak to him about the national affairs of EgyptGod spoke to him about the things within the prison. Genesis 39:22 says, “So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there.” So when the fellow prisoners, the cupbearer and the baker, each had a dream, God gave Joseph the interpretation of those dreams. When God determined that it was time for Joseph to be promoted to second in command of Egypt, He signified this by expanding his realm of hearing to be able to give the interpretation of the Pharaoh’s dream. Upon giving the interpretation, Joseph was placed directly under the Pharaoh’s authority and over all the land of Egypt. It was then that God spoke to Joseph about the affairs of the country. If your sole responsibility is the role of a mother, expect God to talk to you about your family. If you are a manager at a large company, expect God to speak to you about His will regarding those that are under your authority. If you are a mayor of a city, expect God to speak to you about His will regarding those that live in your city. God has words for you to help you fulfill your role within the realm of over-sight wherein He has placed you. Jesus stressed the importance of always being ready and keeping watch for His coming. In the middle of this topic (see Matthew 24:3651), Jesus speaks about giving food to those that are under our charge. "Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time?” (v 45). Jesus is the Master, we are the servants. Jesus is saying, “It is the faithful and wise servant who, being in charge of other servants, feeds these other servants at the proper times.” Spiritually speaking, “food” is God’s Word that becomes part of us as the Holy Spirit gives us revelation (the Greek word, “rhema”) of those words. What Jesus revealed here is that we will be given food that we are to give to those under us. We will hear things from God for those that are under our over-sight. By the same token, we need to give ear to the godly men and women that are over us. For example, God has placed within the government of the United States men and woman that are able to hear His voice. God has placed people like Daniel, who are anointed to function in the affairs of government that we need to recognize and listen to. It is my prayer for you that Father will continue to help you to hear His voice, and more and more frequently.
